A message from Bob Kern

In the more than 30 years I  have spent arranging outdoor adventures I  have often been asked why hunters and anglers, experienced and un, should use a consultant.  Several reasons come to mind:

Knowledge -  any reputable consultant must be knowledgeable far beyond the level expected of an amateur hunter or fisherman.  Working long hours, full time, in the hunting and fishing business, they learn things no amateur could know.  Real consultants are not just booking agents.  Booking a hunt is not a challenge.  Knowing which area to hunt or fish, which outfitter to use and when to go there, is challenging.  [Beware of part-timers, they are really just amateurs in disguise.]

Experience  -   A good consultant’s experience allows him to edit the multitude of offerings in the market, selecting precisely the right program to suit each client. [I and my staff have hunted in more than 46 countries over the span of over 50 years.  I  have collected over 160 species of big game, over 500 trophies, and fished many of the popular fishing locations around the world.   I also spend much of every year visiting hunting and fishing destinations, speaking with outfitters, new and old, and evaluating ever-changing conditions.]

Insider information - In many cases we are aware of situations involving the financial stability of outfitters, pending new game regulations, population trends in game species and a host of other technical details, which the amateur hunter or fisherman would never be exposed to.

Advocacy  - Every outfitter’s mission is to fill his camps and sell his quota.  The consultant’s objective, on the other hand, is to please his clients.  Repeat business is the key to our success.  If a dispute should arise between an outfitter and a client, an experienced consultant can often use his considerable leverage to obtain an equitable solution.

Service -  Good consulting firms design trip arrangements to suit the requirements of their customers. Our staff  routinely procures visas,  firearm permits, and other travel documents, as well as issuing air tickets, making hotel reservations, and performing a host of other services to make travel easier or more interesting for our clients.  We also construct complex sightseeing programs to compliment any hunt. Additionally, we arrange corporate business meetings and retreats for our corporate customers.

To those who have hunted or fished with us - we thank you most sincerely!  To those who haven’t yet used our service, I hope you will give us a try soon.  The men and women of the Hunting Consortium will do their best to give you the most professional, responsive service in our industry.  We are anxious to show you what we can do for you!

Best  wishes,
